About the course

Background

The course will introduce you to the practical basic principles that are used in all contact, regardless of where you place your hands.

Delve into Sutherland's professional journey and how, over many decades, he developed his understanding of the cranial concept in the broader context of osteopathy with great curiosity. As his knowledge grew, he moved from a more mechanical approach to later understanding and embracing broader contexts. These included fluid dynamics, Stillness, Potency, and The Tide.

The course focuses on creating the necessary basis for in-depth and effective treatment with good clinical results. The basic principles lay the practical foundation for all contact, where you continue to refine the meeting place.

Among other things, we train grounding, centering, fulcrums, motion present, neutral, intro to balanced ligamentous tension (BLT) and balanced membranous tension (BMT). And not least, the ability to wait for the tissue to self-correct. To practice patience while listening to the story your body unfolds.

When you are able to establish and remain in tune with the meeting place, in harmony with a deeper understanding of the basic principles, it will give you completely different results in practice and patients who walk out the door feeling relaxed and open.

Goals

One of the aims of the course is to develop your perception skills, which can be applied in all forms of treatment techniques after the course.

That you discover how much better effect you get by listening and keeping the tissue in the best possible condition, so that self-correction takes place in the encounter around this balance point.

Working in the cranial field requires great mental discipline in order to maintain presence in the moment without "spacing out" and dissociating from the person being treated. Another pitfall is being too intense and having a plan for the tissue. This prevents self-correction from occurring and can even induce self-created tissue problems.

Here you will be given the necessary tools and receive supervision on how to maintain yourself as best as possible, both physically and mentally, in the meeting place with the person you are treating.

With the basic principles in place, you will be better able to read the pioneers within the professional literature.
